Does anyone know the situation on the board certifications for ACOG AND ACOOG?

As an osteopathic student in chicago that wants to go home eventually to practice in los angeles, I was thinking that it might be more prudent to look towards an allopathic residency and become ACOG board certified. Is it true that the two bodies don't recognize each other? Does anyone know if that will change eventually?

I would love to hear differing opinions on the subject from both osteo and allo grads.
