For those of you who have already taken the OB/Gyn Shelf... Just wondering if the ACOG uwise questions are really representative of the Shelf material. If not what else would you recommend?

uWIse questions are pretty good, more representative than UWorld I'd say. Sometimes a little too detailed, but on the whole probably the best resource

I thought uWise questions were pretty legit. Went over a lot of things the test hammered on with some that seemed like exact repeats (only so many ways you can ask an ectopic question) I thought they did a good job in helping me get through dysfunctional uterine bleeding questions. There were so many of them, and by the end of the test my differential skills were suffering...

is there a way to do some of these questions without paying $500!!??

my school gives us a username and password (a general one, not a password for each of us).

I thought the questions were helpful. I did them all twice and did really well on the shelf, it was my best one so far.

Good luck!

Unfortunately, I don't know of any free access. My school also gave us a generic username and password to access it.

i thought they were useless but everybody does them anyway. Maintaining strict time control is more important than anything.

I did them and didn't do well on the shelf. They were okay for grasping the concepts, but I'd suggest some other resource.

I would disagree. I thought they were excellent. Go through it twice.

I would rec Blue prints + Uwise.

I agree with instatewaiter. It's not wise to take a shelf, or Step 1, or Step 2 if your only resource is a single question bank, whether its uWise, USMLEWorld, or Kaplan.

I don't know about that. I did very well on Step 1 using just USMLE world. Anyways, Ob/Gyn was my first shelf exam so I was probably doomed to do poorly on it.

It may have worked for you, but I still don't think it's wise for most students to go into an exam having only prepared with a question bank.

UWise is great supplement. Takes a while to get through but good prep for the Shelf. I would definitely use a text (Blueprint and/or CaseFiles) as well with it and then suppleent with another Qbank if you have time.

I thought they were useless.

This was a long time ago, but I think Pre-test was alright.

Anyone know if the Uwise timed exam contains new questions or are they recycled from the Qbank?

Our school provided them and we used them for class tests. I think it really helped me prepare for the shelf - However, I can't see paying $500 for it.

I guess I'm in the minority on this one, but I thought the Uwise questions were awful. They were written terribly and tended to be either ludicrously detailed or too easy.I thought UW was quite a lot more useful, and I definitely wouldn't drop $500 for them.

I agree here.

Blueprints, Casefiles, UW.

Does Uwise keep track of which quizzes you have already completed like on UWORLD or the AAFP Questions?

Thanks everybody!

Uwise doesn't track which tests you have done which is convenient if you'd like to repeat tests. I thought the questions were useful and ended up doing the qbank 2x, Uworld 1.5x, blueprints .75x, casefiles and ended up with a 96 scaled on the shelf which I was pretty happy with.
