This is for current Albany College of Pharmacy students. I have been accepted into the accelerated program starting in May and was wondering if anyone can give me a few suggestions as to good areas (streets are fine) and apartment complexes. If anyone can help that would be great.
Thanks

Gee, been a long time since I graduated, but here goes:

Most students live w/in a 2-5 mile radius of the school (basically any of the "bird-named" streets off of Ontario Ave, Madison, New Scotland, and Western Ave.) Most of the areas around AMC (Albany Medical College) are safe, but try not to live too close to streets bordering the CDPC (Capital District Psychiatric Center) and Washington Park cause back in the day, some of the less lucid folks and criminals wandered the neighborhoods. Most students avoided downtown and the Lincoln Park area (south of the Govenor's mansion). Who knows? Maybe these areas have been gentrified, I don't know.

Lots of folks lived around the College of St. Rose and of course, Ralph's! I hope Ralph's still exists.

Please keep in mind that the neighborhoods may have changed substantially since I graduated (late 80's)

graduated a few years ago and all of the above was true then, too. most ACP student seem to cluster together, which makes life easier when studying together.
downtown is beautiful; i lived there for a year, but couldnt deal with the parking, which is a total and complete nightmare.

isn't ACP building a whole 'nother dorm in the old DOT building? you could look at living there...

Wow. Smallbany itself hasn't changed much, but the school sure has. I'm shocked.

We were in ONE building, NO dorms (well, they were in the process of renovating the building on Manning Blvd (next to the McDonalds), and Christian Brothers Academy still had little play soldiers running around.

I went by a few years ago and the NYS labs (Axelrod building) had grown into this HUMONGOUS building, CBA was now a part of ACP, and the upstairs lecture hall DID NOT have those ghastly 70's orange colored, numbered seats.

Oh boy, I'm really dating myself here.

Is Sainato's Subs still around, Tussionex?

nPage148---whereabouts are you from?

I'm acutally from outside saratoga but my dad grew up on Madison Ave

Wow, you from horse country?

I still remember the ads for Saratoga horseracing: SAR--ATOGA, Thoroug-ly Thorou-bred. Very catchy.

I'm from south of Albany---Delmar area.

Not really horse country, more like cow country. I'm far enough west (in Galway) to avoid the horses.

I cant stand saratoga's new jingle (sarAtogA, sarAtogA, SARATOGA)
