ACS Gen Chem exam

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I found it difficult, mostly because I didn't do any test-specific preparation. I would recommend grabbing the general chemistry ACS prep book. I did that for the organic chemistry one and ended up scoring in the 99th percentile because it was very representative of the actual test.

I agree with above; also I believe the national average is 40s-50s, so your school will likely curve your scores about 15-20 points

Knowing my teacher, that will not happen. She's a royal pain in the butt.

If you understood chemistry a good deal throughout the semester, it really isn't too difficult. The most important thing is to get the Acs study practice booklet. It is an absolute must. Make sure you have a general understanding of everything you learned throughout the semester, and practice the crap out of the Acs practice book, and then you should be in a great position. But I can't stress enough how important that practice book is.

I didn't get the ACS booklet and I did very well. I remember the ACS test being just basic gen chem 2 material so if you've been doing well all semester you should do well on the ACS.

Easy as cake if you get the ACS guide. My ACS exam score (before the curve) was a 90ish, and I am a 'B-' student on exams. The guide mirrors the exam almost identically IMO.

It's possible to do well without the practice book, but the practice book helps a large deal. The practice book gives you preparation on what the test will be asking you. The ACS asks questions in a slightly different manner than your normal exams usually. So practicing the ACS book can only help.

Not saying OP shouldn't get it I just personally didn't use one. I do believe it will help more then it will hinder OP. Sorry for not clarifying that. I wish my o-chem final was an ACS would of made my life a lot easier.

I have an A- in the class which is good for 7th or 8th out of 48 students, so i'm doing fairly well considering a poor start. I want to get the book, only problem is waiting for shipping, I may not get it till a couple days before the exam. Is there an online version I could buy?

Have you tried your campus bookstore? That's where I got mine. Or possibly the chemistry department might have a few as well.

I doubt they have them. It's a small private liberal arts university. They didn't even have an MCAT prep book when I was perusing around.

Have you tried looking for E books online? I believe they might sell electronic version of it.

I didn't find any of those. My teacher posted this 30 page study guide thing from acs. These questions are surprisingly easy....
