Active duty start date?

I am a fourth year HPSP student who is graduating in May 2013.
I was just wondering when is the usual active duty start date for somebody who's already been to COT? I will be stationed in a fairly big AF base as a GP. I am trying to push back my start date as much as possible due to some family related issues. However, I totally understand that mission comes first. Considering all above mentioned, is it reasonable to request for July 1st or August 1st start date? I wasn't sure when people usually go on active duty after graduation.

I can only speak for those doing an AEGD. The program starts the first week of August.

An AF friend of mine (not doing a PGY-1 program) started late in the fall due to pregnancy/childbirth. It's possible - key thing is to remember that you won't be getting any income in between the end of your schooling and up to 3-6 weeks after coming onto active duty.
