Hey guys,

I'm not sure if my question is ridiculous or not. I'm the founder and admin of a community Facebook page that has over 10,000 likes. I post news, events, and other info that is relevant to my hometown. I receive lots of positive feedback from people in the community so I sometimes spend >10 hours a week on the page.

Do you think this would be appropriate to mention as an activity on my AMCAS application. If you think it would be appropriate, do I need to put someone as a contact (I'm not too familiar with the process of inputting the activities yet). Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks,

Jay

Personally I'd list it. It's definitely unique, and if you can show that you interact with a large community of people by exchanging information and ideas that sounds pretty cool. You just need to figure out the right way to word it, because when many people see "Facebook" they automatically think of the worst of social media--which is unfortunate.

Considering the amount of time you spend on this activity, I think it's fine to list it also. But how do you prove it's your work: You can surely find someone in your hometown government (with a title) aware of the activity, willing to attest to your involvement, who has an email address or phone number.
