I was hoping to get some advice from you guys. I am in the midst of applying this cycle and was talking to my adviser. My grades are below average, 3.1 gpa 3.1 sgpa.

I was also offered general volunteer position at the hospital by doing paperwork and helping the lab by picking up samples to be tested and delivering medicine. here is no commitment and a minimum of 5 hours a week. Same as above for the drug and TB test.

Will this count as clinical volunteering?

I would take the scribing position but it really should be a paid position since getting vitals is technically a nursing duty. You'll get much better experience with patient contact and learning how to code.

Will it look weird on the applications for me to be doing scribing as a volunteer since it's generally a paid position.

It has a 1 year commitment although I don't have to sign anything. If for some reason, I can't do the full year, would that create an issue with my application?
It's not going to look weird, it just sounds like the doctor is taking advantage of you. Scribing is a skill much like a PN or MA. Once you start getting paid healthcare experience, you generally don't need to volunteer in a healthcare setting anymore.

As someone who's worked 2 scribe jobs, I can tell you that I WOULD NOT do this on a volunteer basis especially with a 1 year commitment. There's a reason scribing is almost always a paid experience-- It's not just typing on a laptop. I would look for paid scribing experience in your area and do this as a last resort.

Can you go into more detail about the difficulties?
