During a tikition it was determined that 30.00
mL of a 0.100 M Ce4+ solution was required to
react completely with 20.00 mL of a 0.150 M
Fe2+ solution. Which one of the following reactions
occurred?

Answer: Ce4+ + Fe2+ --> Fe3+ + Ce3+

How would a Lewis structure for the NO3 - ion have 3 resonance structures? Once you start moving the double bonds to the other O's, isnt it same structure? Shouldnt the answer be only one resonance structure?

also how are alkaline earth metals different from regular alkaline metals (Q68 in Achiever 3 Science test). thanks for the help.

one thing is that they have differnt oxidation numbers.
Alkaline earth metals are group 2
Alkaline metals are group 1
different number of valence electrons

know this stuff...

If you do the math, it comes out that .003 moles of each were used giving you a 1:1 ratio.

how do u get 0.003 moles?

Molarity = moles/liters

so they give you 30 ml = .03 L
to get moles, you multiply .03 L to the Molarity (.1) which cancels out the Liters, and leaves you with moles. Same thing is done with the 20 ml and .15 M.
:)
