Being a very nontrad who have been a lawyer arguing at high courts and WS executive handling billions of dollars, I always wear a three piece suit with a bow tie. I also sent in my prof. pic in that way too. Should I just dress like that to my interviews? Or wear a tie instead?
Skip the vest can look pompous

And we're sticking to our guns that this isn't a troll account? This post absolutely reeks

not that old fashioned! Monocle? LOL. It's just the whole affectation in court and in those big-gun board meetings. I just want to gauge the new environment I will be in.
I actually would say that a monocle would be an auto admit lol. I definitely think that while people expect professionalism, it’s not as “fancy” as what you’re used to in your current environment.

tbh, I am not a fancy person, so it's more like the life adjustment. Plus I love school anyway. However, I told my husband that I definitely need the best lab coat available and tailored lol.
Don’t most schools issue lab coats? Yeah, I agree with memes. I’m not sure if you’re a partner, but the adjustment could be a big shock. It sounds like you’re aware of what you’re getting yourself into, though.

who's this legendary Walter?
A banned member who was obsessed with almost pathologically insane ECs, like Navy SEALs, having a knighthood,, or Nobel laureates and their chances of getting into med school. Methinks mental health issues were involved.

To answer your OP, I agree with the wise gonnif...skip the vest, bow ties are OK (but NOT wooden ones!) Yes, they are a thing,

I kind of love wooden bow ties. I’ve only seen them at holiday fairs, but I’ve never seen anyone ACTUALLY buy them.

Have you interviewed people with wooden bow ties?

I have not, but I believe that the wise @gyngyn has.

Gyngyn's school gets some very weird interviewees.

Not even because of the military. I just loathe capitalistic ideals of consumerism. This is deeply rooted since I was like....11
Pnw. Checks out. I like pretty things, but I don’t obsess over what I have (or don’t have). Med school interviews probably aren’t the place to have fun fashion wise, so you’re in good shape hah

Stop inflating his ego. If there’s anyone on this site who doesn’t need that (other than you), it’s him. 😉

Edit: I’m being cheeky, in case that wasn’t clear.
Hey now, my original post about Walter said “people like you and me” and I removed the me part. I would say that is progress lol

oh man, I just want to flame with him here lol.
I choose to believe he never left. That he watches from the shadows, waiting until the time is right for his return. Because he's the troll SDN deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we hunt him, because he can take it. Because he's not our troll: He's an EC gatekeeper. A top tier gunner. A SAVAGE Knight. *Cue outro music*

Honestly I can picture OP as an attorney. Granted it's as an associate fetching coffee while partners constantly tell him to stop dressing up and that he does not need his own business cards. All while he argues with the security at the court that he does in fact need his brief case to stay locked due to "sensitive information".

So funny 🤣

Update: To stay competitive in light of the current applicant pool, I have also decided to manage millions of dollars through Wall street. Granted I used a VPN to route through there and I also spent 100 USD to buy 25,000,000 Venezuelan Bolivars (which immediately caused my bank to lock my account). Should I send an update letter relaying my new EC?

Only update if it was billions of dollars and you used that money to start a new medical school and open an orphanage in Africa.

(I'm feeling the Walter vibes in this thread)
