Adcom's view on summer classes?

Do you all think adcoms view good grades from summer courses skeptically because the coursework is too light? Or do they not care much and getting even a slightly higher GPA is all that matters? I've taken two summer courses so far (one in May, one in June), and I'm currently thinking about taking a third one in July, but I was wondering if getting all these A's during summer by taking only one course each month is worth that much for adcoms to see.

They aren't gonna discount your "A" because you took it in the summer 🤣

If you get an A, you got an A. It doesn't get factored into your GPA differently because you took it in the summer.

I took Organic Chemistry I and II over the summer and got A's in both. That definitely wasn't light!

If you read through there, you can see that med school ad coms apparently have a slight disfavor towards summer classes (particularly to those who take a prereq at CC). However, I have never seen nor heard that same sentiment shared on the pre dental forums 🙂 I wouldn't be concerned, especially if you are taking it at a university.

Summer classes cannot be viewed as being lighter in terms of workload, especially if they are half term classes. On average, courses would be taught at twice the pace, but compared to a regular term, the difference in pace isn't always linearly correlated. Even with supposedly less going on, the decreased amount of time you have to digest the material cannot be overlooked. For example, just because you normally take 18 credits in a regular term does not necessarily mean that 6 or 7 credits in a half term is easily manageable.

I don't think adcoms care about what type of term and/or when you take a course. If it is required, you just have to do it, and have it done prior to matriculation.
