Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but check this out:

http://www.utmb.edu/somstudentaffairs/admissions/admission_req.html

Down at the bottom, it says :
"In addition to the basic core requirements for medical school, the following courses should be taken prior to entering medical school:

Highly Recommended

Biochemistry/Advanced Biochemistry
Cell Biology
Molecular Genetics
Anatomy and Physiology
Additional Courses

Immunology
Statistics
Developmental Biology
Microbiology "

I though the requirements for med school in Texas were mainly based on the basic core requirements as what was noted in the TMDSAS website.

No, they're only "highly recommended" courses. The required ones are listed at the beginning of the page and reflect what's shown on the TMDSAS site. I haven't taken anatomy and physiology, and everything seems okay so far.

I dont think I included this...but just above Immunology, it actuallly says "Additional Courses", which include Immunology and the remaining courses. Yeah..but I guess if everything seems ok, I guess it shouldnt matter.

UTMB expects that you will have had Biochem before entering. The others are pretty optional -- but most also have either Micro or Immunology or Genetics.
