For those of you headed back to school (living at home or somewhere other than school for the summer) are you changing your address through amcas and schools or are you leaving your address as your home address?

I'm thinking that I'm going to change my address to where I'll be living, but I don't know if that goes well, I'd have to do it a few times (back home for Christmas...) and I don't want anything to get too messed up. What do you think? What are you all doing?

just having parents send everything up

they're just forwarding everything to you at school? that certainly seems easier than having to change everything multiple times...i'd kind of like to open my own acceptance and rejection letters...and not wait three days for the mail to get to me at school to find out which they are!

eh my parents are opening up the letters and sometimes even the emails. i'm sorta in the migrant-living out of a suitcase, not always close to reliable internet access part of my year off. it's fun and it's a good reason to be calling my parents fairly often.

That depends. I lived at home and it was fine for my parents to receive everything.

If you were living somewhere other than home...where you don't have anyone to get your mail for you, then you really want to switch it on your AMCAS and call all your schools to let them know/confirm they know about the address change. I would only really trust my parents or brother with stuff like this.

It was even good since my dad had lots of time on his hands to fuss over it and I was a busy student and whatever.

Thanks, I think that I am going to leave my address as it is. I'm sure my family will be very good to my mail 🙂 And open it when I'm on the phone 🙂

Yeah, it left it at my home address so I don't have to freak out everyday on my way back from class thinking about getting my mail. This way I can just have my parents or my brother tell me (yeah I'm a coward, i know  )

last year i had a hard time making this choice, and eventually decided just to keep my home address (where the mail comes to my parents). i was SO glad i did--if you're applying to non-rolling schools, decisions may come during spring break. if i'd been using my school address, i would've been home tearing my hair out while my letters sat waiting in my school box all week.

just something to consider...
