Address Change

If you are graduating and moving to your permanent residence, how will you notify schools? The secretary at UVM told me to do it through AMCAS, which sounded funny. And how far in advance before you move will you tell schools? And how will you do it, email, letter, call?

technically you're supposed to make *any* changes to your app through AMCAS (e.g. new grades, address change, etc) but i wouldn't touch my AMCAS app with a ten foot pole. when i updated schools with fall grades, i just mailed each school a new transcript. personally i would just send each school a letter with your new address and stay far away from your AMCAS app.

Even the sound of the word "AMCAS" makes me cringe. If you attempt to update your address change through them, I would bet that the schools don't even get it. I sent schools a personalized letter telling them that I would be moving, and also adding in a part about how badly I wanted to go to their school. Then, sometime before I leave, I am going to call each school just to make sure that they have updated my information and try to weasel some waitlist info out of them. Any excuse to write schools or call them is the best option.

I called schools, and they updated it for me. Usually they told me to also send a letter so that they have something hard to keep in my file and that I was also supposed to inform AMCAS, although I don' tthink that it really matters.

Houston has a change of address form to fill out anytime you move. I'd check with my med school.

I'd change my address via AMCAS and tell all the med schools that I still had hope in about the address change. (just incase if AMCAS should ever screw up those incompetent rat bastids mofos <img src="http://a256.g.akamai.net/7/256/5527/V001/forums.fanhome.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />)
