Hi,

I am a Canadian University student who wants admission into Optometry school in US, I have still not taken the OAT but I am planning to take it in 2012 Feb end or begining of March. I know most optometry schools have application deadline in March. My GPA is 3.24 so I am wondering if I do good on the OAT would I be able to land addmission ? Also which schools look at OAT more than the GPA ? Plus can someone help me with which books to buy and how to be ready for the OAT ? I am also willing to pay someone if they want to sell their stuff ? Thank you once again for helping.

i think it would be erally hard to get an admission this late. this is because my friend had a 3.7 but since he applied late all the spots were full so he got interviews, but was put on the waitlist. you can try and see, but i think all schools value oat/gpa pretty much equally. ur gpa is good.

i am selling the kaplan oat big book for $70 +shipping, which is a giant book with lessons and tests for all the sections, that you get from taking the course.

its still early enough (since you already have interviews and aren't JUST submitting) and your GPA/OAT is high. Knock those interviews out, you'll do great!

Honestly it will depend on the schools and how many seats they have left. You'd be cutting it a little close but it's worth a try. What schools are you thinking of? If you can get your app together quickly then for sure get it in first and then write the OAT. I submitted my app early October and wrote the OAT late November.
