I'm planning to apply to medical school next year and I'm not entirely sure if I've satisfied the requirement for one year of inorganic chemistry.

I transferred from a school that used the quarter after my freshman year, and as a result, I took the first half general chemistry on quarter system, and the second half of general chemistry on the semester system. This obviously leaves a discrepancy of something like 1.3 credit hours.

I'm not sure what to do at this point. Do I need to retake an entire semester of general chemistry just to make up for this differential? Are there other options? I don't relish the prospect of retaking a freshman level class, but I don't really want to take some upper level inorganic chem course that could hurt my GPA.

Ok that makes sense. Yeah, I didn't explain that very clearly but I took "general chemistry" on quarter system (so it was worth 2.7 semester credit hours) and the second half of general chemistry on semester system (4 credit hours). I will be taking biochemistry next year, but obviously that isn't inorganic chemistry and I'm not planning on taking an associated lab along with it.

So just to clarify, even if I don't have 8 semester credit hours of inorganic chemistry + lab, (rather 6.7 credit hours) I won't be disqualified?

Did you read what he said? It's not a case of being"disqualified" it's a case of MAYBE needing to take a semester of Gen Chem after acceptance but before matriculation.

Not being snotty. But you explained things very well and OP still wanted reassurances that he won't be disqualified. Nobody on here can guarantee that.

Yeah sorry, I was asking for clarification more out of a desire for affirmation than a need for genuine answer. I apologize if it came across that I was disregarding your advice/response, which I very much appreciate.

And yes I've already taken a full year of organic chemistry. At this point, I'm not planning on taking a full year of biochemistry, but that could change.
