So, i am a transfer student at UCLA and i finished community college with a 3.7 and i took my sciences at different schools because of scheduling conflicts. I took my ochems at one school, physics and general chemistrys at the same community college i graduated from and my biology's at a different college. My science GPA is a 3.65 (1 C in ochem 1, but an A in ochem 2). I am graduating UCLA this spring and i will finish with a 3.3 at UCLA. I am taking my DAT this month and hope i do well. I also will have 1 W on my transcript from this quarter because i need to drop one class that i don't need at all for credits or for my major (its irrelevant just time consuming). Does that look bad? I have plenty of hours of shadowing for a dentist but dont have research done at all. How is my GPA looked at when i am a transfer student? Do they look at my CC and my UCLA in one or separately and how do trends work into it? What are my chances just with my GPAs. And whats a good DAT that i should aim for to have a chance to get into schools?

I think that you are going to have more of a problem with your community college credits. I am applying to UMKC next year, and they are very sticky about no science or math credits coming from a community college. You should get very clear on the requirements of the schools you are applying for.

Just curious, doesn't UMKC only accept students from their state or from Hawaii or states that do not have a dental school?

your asking alot of questions about how adcoms see applications. Honestly I don't think anyone can give you a straight answer. Every school is going to look at your application and make different decisions.

But generally speaking, your overall GPA from all your schools, seems to be..... 3.4-ish (right?) which is a good GPA anyway you look at it.

As far as having just 1 W, IMO thats no biggie. No one is going to care that you dropped JUST ONE courses.

And about your last question regarding DAT, there is no such thing as "aim for DAT score".... you study your best and take the test, whatever score you get is the one that will help you decide where to go from there (retake? apply without retake? apply & say you'll retake?)

UMKC has deals with Kansas, Hawaii, Arkansas and a couple others, as well as Kuwait. But most of their students come from Missouri. If you are not a MO resident, or a resident of one of the states they list on their website - you will 100% not get in regardless, it's a state school and they take it seriously it seems.
