After talking with many admissions officers, it seems DO schools start interviews in September. Can someone offer information on when the committees render decisions. For example, if I interview in September or October, when should I expect to receive their decision? Thanks so much! You guys are great!

This depends on the school. More specifically, it depends on when and how often the admissions committee meet at the given school. I wouldn't be able to generalize here.

At KCUMB, I received a decision by snail mail in less than a week after my interview, if I recall correctly. They have a pretty quick turn-around.

I think it varies. I have heard some people get a response within two weeks of their interview.

Check out mdapplicants.com. I think if you review specified dates for interview and acceptance for a given school across several profiles, you can get some vague idea of the turn-around time (taking into account snail mail time, of course, if decisions are delivered via regular mail). I'm also thinking that it probably depends on when a given individual's interview fell in the committee review cycle, so take it with a grain of salt.

However, I wouldn't concern yourself over it too much right now. Try to get complete at the schools without unnecessary delay. The sooner you get complete, the sooner you are likely to get an interview. Interview well, if invited. That is what's important at present. I think schools usually give you some idea of when you should be hearing from them after an interview.

It definitely varies but I think for most schools, since the admissions process is rolling, you could expect some response anywhere from 1 week to 1 month. Most admissions committees will meet at least once a month.

I'm assuming you mean pre-secondary interviews. If I recall correctly, based on my own experience and where I applied, KCUMB, Western/COMP, and WVSOM offered pre-secondary interviews. I don't know which other schools might do this.

LECOM stated after interviewing that it could take up to 3 weeks to receive a decision by snail mail.

DMU will also offer an interview before the submission of a secondary and recommendation letters via their "fast-track" program. These things are required before you attend the interview however.

It depends a lot on the school and on your interview. I know at UNE my acceptance letter darn near beat me home, but others waited for 8 weeks or so.

As others have stated it varies. For example, at SOMA the adcom meets once a week, so you can get a call within a day of the interview. At CCOM, on the other hand, the adcom only meets once a month, so if you interview at the begining of the month, it may take a few weeks before they even consider your app.

i had a phone call from dr. stowers at DCOM within about a week and a half. this really varies based on the adcoms meeting schedule and if they actually make a decision on you. you can be accepted, WL'd, denied, or even held. OSUCOM held me for like 2 months before even deciding on anything. its streeessssful until you get into one, then you dont really care what anyone has to say - you got in!

Once again, every case can be different. It's possible that you can have an acceptance in days. OTOH, it's also possible that you could interview in September, be placed on a wait or alternate list, and not get an acceptance for 8 or 9 months.

But, you're putting the cart ahead of the horse. You should absolutely forget everything about how much time it takes for a decision now and concentrate on:

1) Getting interviews. You need to actually get them before you can go on them. Make your application the best it can be before you start thinking about acceptances.

2) Prepping for your interviews. In order to do well, you need to do some research on each school and some practice interviews-- especially if you haven't done a lot of them in the past.

After, and only after, you have gone to the interview do you even need to consider the timeline. This is a process that takes more than a year to complete. Don't be in so much of a hurry to get to the end that you forget to do well on the stuff at the beginning. Keep in mind those receivers on the football field who have beaten every oponent and turn their heads toward the goal before they have the ball solidly in hand-- don't drop the ball with the goal in site. You've got to catch it before you can score.

I was interviewed at VCOM on the first day of interviews in Sept. I was notified 3 weeks later. They said we needed to wait a bit longer since we were teh first batch of people. I really will all depend on the school.

I was also wondering if fast-tracking is something that only occurs later on in the application season? Do they fast-track applicants who have submitted thier applications early?
