Evidently, it is for some of the programs too, since they seem to be downloading stuff every couple hours, but then other programs haven't downloaded anything yet.

I know...I've only checked it about 5 times today 😳 .

Are your LOR's still "not uploaded to ERAS post office" like mine? I guess it may take a couple of days after you actually apply for them to get uploaded... 😡

Well, I did get one email so far: just a "form" email from a program saying that they received my application.

Yeah, you're gonna be checking ADTS like a fiend on crack for the next month or two. Make the most of your addiction!

Well, my "addiction" paid off: all of my letters were uploaded around 9pm last night! I guess ERAS has people working late for us.

I don't think my letters are finished yet. We were told that they needed to be done by Sept 23rd, so I'm just pleased that I actually gave my letter writers a month's notice. I have a problem with procrastinating when it comes to application stuff.

I am seriously addicted.
I feel like I should cut down on my obssesive checking. People annoy me by criticizing me checking it all day long. I feel guilty about deserting my daily responsibilities. I check it first thing in the morning to steady my nerves.
I need some help.

  "CAGE" questions, perhaps??

My name is Brian, and I'm a ADTS addict...

I think the programs that have not downloaded yet are slackers.

Tell me about it. A couple have actually downloaded everything, but most haven't downloaded much. *sigh* I have a feeling it's going to be a long month.

ME TOO!
glad there are other people that are not rushing!

You can submit stuff in stages though, don't forget about this. Not everything has to be complete in your application. You may even be able to submit the personal statement later, unless they have changed this option recently.

Yeah well if you applied here you might be waiting awhile. The secretary tends to wait.

I did apply there, and Michigan is one of the slacker programs. So is Iowa.

I think you should become chief resident and clean up this mess.

I tend to be pretty OCD about things, so I probably would have already reviewed all the applications by now and sent out most of the interview invites. Then again, chief residents don't really have any power of the process. I think people fail to take advantage of us OCD individuals. 😉

Yep, Michigan and Iowa are the only places that haven't downloaded my stuff yet. Must be a midwestern thing.

Looks like we will be running into each other on the interview trail. 🙂

You're at UVA now, right? I applied there as well. They have downloaded my stuff. 👍

Yep, I've been checking the damn thing more often than I'd like to admit. It's hard not to, but beer and football season will help alot.

My LORs have not been uploaded to the Post Office yet, and this annoys me even though I know it's no biggie. Also, when do your schools upload the transcript? Mine says they do that in Oct. I thought the transcript was a part of the Dean's letter but I guess it's sent separately. Hopefully programs aren't waiting for transcripts to start rollin' out the invites.

Now this is weird. Our MSPE's are supposed to be sent on November 1st, correct? Well, it's showing that 4 of my programs already downloaded it. Very strange...

There are a few people training here who went to Iowa for med school. Also, the new hemepath fellow is a mudphud who went to Iowa.

Really! I probably know this person, but I am not sure who it is off the top of my head. I will have to work on figuring this out. 🙂

I have heard great things about UVA from just about everybody.

I remember him now. Not sure if he would remember me though since I was just a young'un when he was here.

ok- I'm waaaaaay behind on this one, but I must strenuously agree with the title in the thread. I don't think I have ever been so OCD about something in my life- except for proof reading my PS

"The AAMC is performing unscheduled system maintenance; all Web and database services that directly support our constituents through the Internet are temporarily unavailable. This includes MCAT®, AMCAS®, Careers in Medicine, ERAS®, NRMP, FindAResident, and GMETrack among others."

Did we crash the server, with everyone checking at 11:30??

Word!
I was checking in too at 11.30 AM!
Now come to think of it, i have been checking every other minute!......
This pressure is worse than trying to forcibly hold back pee....

My PI's letter was finally uploaded this morning! Now I can check every 30 seconds to see which programs have downloaded it. 😳

Just one more letter to get in!

I think ADTS should have a feature where they automatically update you if anything changes. They don't have to tell you what changed, that way it can be a fun game.

BTW, at some point, on ADTS, it will start appearing as though programs have downloaded your information more than once. In some cases, it gets to 4 or 5 if I remember right. This does not mean they lost your info, or they are reexamining your application, or anything significant. I don't know what it means, but it happens to everyone and doesn't seem to correlate with anything. Maybe some secretaries aren't familiar with how it works or something.

Keeping my fingers crossed.....

You remind me of that saying, that residents(-to-be? 😉) are like mushrooms - kept in the dark and periodically shovelled with manure.

Michigan downloaded my program today! Finally! Not all of it, of course. Just parts. 😕

Now Penn and Colorado are my only remaining slacker programs.

I had given up on checking on Michigan until you posted this. I am so glad you did! Now I can stop stressing about them.

Mayo is also taking their sweet time. Maybe I'll stress out about them.

Oh yeah. I applied there too but forgot about them. 😳

I actually am much more stressed about the programs that have had my application for a long time but haven't contacted me yet!

Yeah, what's up with only downloading part of the app? They downloaded one of my letters, but not the other.

 Yeah, mayo is pretty forgettable. (just kidding, obviously)

I'll stress out about no contact next week (after step 2)

Randomness is your friend.

Consider that the program secretary has to print out this huge heap of paper, sort it into folders, make copies for the reviewers, get the copies to the reviewers, and then the reviewers have to read them (presumably at night before they go to bed and over their morning coffee...) before the heaps are sorted into (presumably) "Yes", "No", "Maybe".

That's what I imagine happening, at any rate.

It's like path reports. They take awhile 😉

All my LORs are finally in, so maybe I can cut down on my ADTS usage now (seriously, I can quit whenever I want to).

If all your materials are in, then ADTS addiction ends soon thereafter. Just compulsively check your email, especially your Junk mail folder.

Any messages that have the Subject line of "FW: " are could be interview invitations so don't be trigger happy to delete these emails like you do for a lot of your other spam mails.

My final LoR finally got uploaded today!!

Now I will just have to continue compulsive ADTS usage until all programs have downloaded it, and then I can stop. I think. 😉

Dude, ADTS is sooo 3 weeks ago 😉 It's all about the email now. I've been checking my email at least 20 times per day! Part of that is because I'm on anesthesia right now and the day usually consists of me showing up for morning conference at 6:30 (very painful) - This is followed by me standing around in the OR doing my best to convey the profound sense of boredom I am experiencing. During the first case of the morning, the resident usually says something to the effect or "oh wait, you're going into pathology right? Why don't you just take off." Me (quickly): "Seeya tomorrow, thanks!" Today I was home by 10am. 👍

My month of gas was during my 3 month gen surg rotation. Man, that was the bomb! I told everyone I was going into pathology and the residents let me go home after the induction in the first case. Then there was the one day I was supposed to take overnight call. My resident told me, "yeah, you're going into pathology...no more overnight call for you...why not stop now. go home." This was at 2 pm. Met up with my lab homies and promptly went to Dominicks!

yeah, michigan anesthesiology was one of the more benign departments. the fact that my former housemates and also my former roommate who went into anesthesiology at UM were some of the coolest motherf*ckers I've met is a testament to this.

Word. Gas-passers are second only to pathologists in terms of overall coolness. It's beautiful to be able to cover all your mistakes with Versed. 😛

My gas rotation: 6:30am conference - 7:00am OR board looking for interesting cases - 7:15am walking to pre-op "to find patient" - 7:20am walking out door of hospital - 7:35am walking to car (Another student on their way in for the day asks "oh you're leaving? Are you post call?" I answer "No I have to go find my patient in pre-op, maybe he is on my couch at home playing PS2") - 7:45am arrive at house and go back to sleep... Repeat next day...

Seriously though, my anesthesia residents were the coolest residents. The first week they taught me tons of stuff and let me do tons of procedures. The rest of the month, after learning that I was path bound, they allowed my day to procede as above. 😀
