I am a pre-med student (Biochem Major/spanish minor) and I am on the executive board for Relay for Life. this year I was Food and Hospitality chair but I was recently asked to apply to be the event chair. this is a huge responsibility. I am already employed and I'm not sure if I should apply. Running the entire event would be amazing for my app but I wonder if it would be too much. Any suggestions?

personally, i would not do it if you think youd be wearing yourself too thin.
and it's usually a good idea NOT to pursue ECs just because they'd look good on your app...

I think heading relay will be a great opportunity for you, but i definitely agree that school comes first, so GPA is more important than any EC. That said, if you do have a pretty easy work load next year you should consider doing it but if not... maybe put it off to another year? Or general participation as part of the exec board will still be incredible as part of your application. Either way. Good luck!

I vote you do it. If you accept the responsibility, you'll find the time. I ran a couple large scale events during undergrad. It benefitted me more in terms of leadership/organizational skills rather than my application. It's also very rewarding to accomplish something that involves so many people and takes months of work to plan. Being on a committee is nothing like running the committee.. you put much more in and get much more out.
