Thank you all for reading this in advance. I'm looking for advice on my situation and also input on my school list.

To sum up my stats:
- 3.45 cGPA, 3.35 sGPA
- MS in Global Health, 3.89 GPA
-26 MCAT (retook on May 17th and felt pretty good; studied much more efficiently than when I initially took it in 2012- was averaging a 30 on practice MCATs, so expecting a 27-30)
- extensive extracurriculars including shadowing (MD and DO), clinical internships, some research and significant community service/volunteering. Have some unique, longstanding ECs too like speaking at a national rally in Washington D.C., and a lot of leadership activities. I am also heavily involved in animal rescue and shelter work, and make visits to local clinics with my therapy dog.

Here's the kicker.....I have a misdemeanor DUI on my record from over 2 years ago. I absolutely do not condone drinking and driving nor do I make excuses for my action. I take full responsibility for that stupid mistake of mine- please do not attack me; I've done it enough times myself and have put it in my past. It has been a learning experience and I can honestly say that I have become a more responsible, aware citizen. Anyways, I have since completed all necessary court actions including alcohol education school and counseling, and have paid all fines. I am currently trying to get it expunged as my BAC was low and I completed everything in a timely manner, however I was just informed that it's going to be much more difficult than expected and it likely won't be expunged this year.

I've searched through SDN over and over again and was just hoping for some advice tailored to my situation. Will this significantly affect my prospects of medical school admission? I've worked very hard the past 2 years to boost all other aspects of my application in hopes of making up for it. I know opinions may be subjective, but any input would be greatly appreciated.

I've already submitted my AACOMAS app (on June 3rd) and am waiting until I have my MCAT score back to finalize which schools to send to. So far, I'd like to apply to the following:
-Western (reach?)
-AZCOM
-Both AT Stills
-KCUMB (reach?)
-RVU
-CUSOM
-Marian
-PCOM? And PCOM-GA?
-DMUCOM
-LECOMs

Do I stand a chance? And would it be worthwhile to apply to the lower tier MD schools, like Rosalind Franklin or the new ones? I want to boost my chances as much as possible to become a doctor, although I do love the DO approach and would be very happy at a DO school.

Thank you all!!

@Goro I would very much appreciate your quality advice. Thank you in advance.

Do not apply to MD schools with a 26. If the new MCAT is >30, then some of the low-tier and new MD schools are worth thinking about.

The relatively recent DUI might be a deal breaker. If it was, say, four years ago, when you were 18, then an Adcom might put it off to youthful stupidity. This one you're just going to have to take on the chin. Exemplary behavior and having positions of responsibility will be the best antidote, along with time. Your DO list looks good. Perhaps consider the VCOMs?

Thank you @Goro. I appreciate your input! Yes, I would only apply MD if my MCAT broke a 30. I'll add the VCOMs to my list. Thanks again for chiming in.
