I am deciding between two great programs, Loma Linda and UoP (Stockton). They are similar in price, UoP is 2 years and LLU is 3 years. I am not religious, therefore I am unsure about the commitment to religion aspect of LLU. Another difference is clinical hours. UoP has 16 weeks of clinical practice, where LLU has 39. Is the clinical experience significant when making my decision? I am unsure how important this is when I eventually get a career. Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙂

Hi, I've worked with many physical therapists over the years, one who is LDS attended Touro in Nevada which is a Jewish school, and from my understanding no one forced or made him commit to a different religion. As far as the clinical hours go, many have told me that, the clinical setting is where you really learn to be a PT, learn to deal with patients and evals, practice in school only does so much. My choice was heavily influenced by this clinical experience offered, the program I selected has 51 weeks of clinical rotations and I feel this is what will help me gain the most knowledge of being a therapist

I hear Stockton is a very dangerous area. That's all the input I can give you!

Between price, clinical experience, and safety (mentioned above), it looks like Loma Linda is the better option. The religious aspect seems doable for 3 years, unfortunate, but doable.

Yeah I don't think the religion thing will be bad, the worst thing my friend had to say about the religious school is they provided pizza for them every Thursday but it was horrible because they could only use flat bread and no pepperoni haha Other than that no religious conflicts

I have a friend who is currently at Loma Linda and enjoys the program, however I personally do not know much about the program.
I have worked with a few PTs from UOP and spoke to them in depth about their program. They really enjoyed their time at UOP and said the only downside is cost (but you are done in 2 years). They also thought the program prepared them for their career because of clinical experience and how helpful the professors were.
Stockon is a dangerous area but my parents both attended their undergrad at UOP and I have had a countless number of friends who have attend undergrad at UOP and were never in danger.
I personally declined at UOP due to cost. However, I genuinely enjoyed the interview and think the relationships and support from the students, professors, and faculty is amazing. If it weren't for cost I would be attending UOP.

I'm assuming they are both doctoral programs? that would make UoP an accelerated program. trust me, doing this in 3 years is already going to feel like its accelerated, I can't even imagine having to go through this even faster
