I got my first bio 2 (ecology & evolution course) exam back and i got a 46.2. I took my first gen chem 2 exam a few days ago as well and i think that i bombed that also (probably the 30s-40's maybe 50's). im currently a sophomore. should i just drop those two classes? i really want to be a dentist and get into a dental school like NYU.

Depends, will it count as a drop fail?If it does, then that's a 0 right of the bat for 2 classes in terms of GPA. Eventually you'll have to take both classes (and the rest of the series) as they are pre-reqs for dental school. I think it might be wise to develop better study habits or adjust them to fit the nature of your classes. If you can drop them without any demerits though, you might want to go ahead and do that as it's difficult to win an uphill battle in classes like that unless there were originally outstanding circumstances. Just keep in mind that you'll have to take them in order to fulfill any pre-healthcare course requirements.

Optometry and podiatry are excellent alternatives to dentistry.

Try to figure out what's the issue. 1st, be honest with yourself. Did you give it 100% of your effort? 2nd, if not, try to find strategies to be more efficient, talk to your profs in office hours (treat them like class hours), talk to upperclassmen that have succeeded in class. 3rd, take responsibility and don't blame others (for better or worse. If you get 90, that was all you bro!)

I am against considering dropping the class until the last possible minute. It's too easy to throw in the towel and take an easy escape route which could ultimately be harder. Until that time, stress test yourself and figure out how much work you can handle, what works, what doesn't, etc.

That's a tough go. Graffix gives some excellent advice. Really try to figure out what the route of the problem is. With hard work, a bad midterm can be overcome
