I'm in my second trimester as an M1 and so far I've been spending all of my time studying. There is no PMR interest group at my school so I'm sort of lost as to what EC's to do. What should I spend my summer doing? I'm going to meet with my advisor soon but I wanted to ask here too.

At this stage, it's important to get yourself some basic exposure and develop likes/dislikes. I would recommend shadowing various specialities (not just PM&R) when you're not in class. As for the summer, I think research is always a solid bet. Projects with neuro, neurosurg, pedi neuro, psych, ortho, pain may apply to PM&R if you can't find physiatry focused research opportunities.

For PM&R ECs in particular, good opportunities may be sports coverage where you can join a sports med physician to attend marathons, football games.
