Hey guys, Im planning on going to different hospitals and clinics around my city and dropping off my resume to try to get a physician.

Is this how you guys did it or is there a more efficient way?
Thank you

Go to your PCP first, and then your parent's PCP/specialists, and then the doctors that your friends have shadowed in the past who are willing to take in undergrads

Should I bring a resume with me when I do?
If they say no should I visit random clinics and hospitals?

Dress professionally and bring a resume with a cover sheet explaining your goals and what you hope to accomplish by shadowing

I've called several places, never heard back, so I took things into my own hands and got my resume on desks all over town. Now I'm shadowing and making connections

I got on the websites of local teaching hospitals around me and looked up physicians in the specialties I am interested in. I sent a brief email with my CV attached asking if they would be willing to host me for a shadow. I got replies from about 60% of the doctors I emailed. Much simpler than going door to door handing out resumes IMO. By asking at teaching hospitals, you've got a better chance at reaching physicians who enjoy working with and helping students.

Approach your on doctor, as well as any that take care of your parents. This is a great way to expose yourself to physicians. Also use any connections you have. If your best friend's mom is a nurse, ask her to hook you up with a doctor. There's no shame in this, and its a great way to quickly get processed. Another longer approach that worked for me was as a volunteer in the hospital. I'd volunteer and meet doctors rounding and I'd get to know them randomly. I told one of them that I got to know well I was interested in medicine and asked if I could shadow him. He was fine with it. Its also another +1 because you have HIPAA training and a badge to be in the hospital already.
