Just looking for some advice for the first few weeks of pharm school, whether it is academic, social, financial, or anything really..

In hindsight, what do you wish you would have done during the first few weeks and what are you glad that you did do? General recommendations please, don't go off on the "i wish i went to med school" or "i wish i realized pharmacy sucked and dropped out" crap that people troll similar threads with constantly.

Thanks in advance! 🙂

Yes i have seen this thread. It refers to the time prior to applying while i am interested in advice specific to the start of pharmacy school. Also the thread is full of trolling about how bad pharmacy is as a career.

I feel as though this topic is significantly different, but thank you for the link anyway.

Edit: Though the second link you provided was somewhat helpful.

Read the thread. God. He doesn't want that.

I'd try to get to know the pople in your class? I can't imagine it would be like UG where you can sit on ratemyprofessor and learn about the professor.

He wants advice for the start of pharmacy school, right? Its a good question and the threads I linked to contain great pertinent advice if I do say so myself. 😛

Not sure what my "stats" have to do with anything?

The unsolicited advice thread is full of great advice. 👍

I don't understand why there is such a craze for using the search button. Honestly, the site gets more traffic. The user gets fresh information relevant to him. What is the harm in opening multiple threads?

Nothing really. Just an indication of the super SDN status.

Why the jackass attitude?

Why the jackass attitude?

Why the rude post that serves only to derail the thread from the intended topic? Let's all get along and have an intelligent discussion relating to the beginning of pharmacy school. Owlegrad had a great opening post on the other thread, let's get some more helpful advice like that.

Why can't we all just be friends??!!!

For the first few weeks of school:

-scope peeps out.
-Know who the gunners are.
-Keep your options open.
-Talk to everyone/network (it's how you'll get voted into positions).
-Figure out a study routine.
-introduce yourself to profs without being a weirdo
-wait before buying the books
-pay attention
-apply for scholarships (if applicable)

....OT: for some reason my autocorrect wanted to put "dilaudid" instead of "scholarships" lulz

Try things out. Say yes to apha events, rush events, drinks with new people. The first few weeks is the perfect time to figure out those parts of school.

Socialize, go to organization meetings and get the free food. If there are events or people getting together off campus go out. Explore the town if you're new to the area. Get to know your classmates outside of school. Have fun- you'll wonder where the time for that went later on.

Get to know everyone very quickly. Just knowing the name and matching it with a face is enough sometimes.
