I was abroad for seventeen months. I came back to my home state to finish my medical school application - to find out I've lost my state residency! I'm now in the following position:

-I'm working with a professor as a student researcher/paid employee. The two credit hours now cost me $3000.
-My biochemistry course costs $5000

I was going to pay for these out-of-pocket, but the latest news has really mucked everything up - I will NOT be considered an in-state resident for admissions purposes.

In essence, my number one pick for schools became an impossibility for me. My only options are to wait ANOTHER year, or to move states.

Am I missing something, is there any hope? Are there states where I can obtain residency for the 2018 application cycle?

What's the state? My state has a number of alternate ways to qualify for residency, you may have lost qualifying under one provision, but still remain qualified under another.

How did you lose your state residency? And do you mean just in-state status for your school or your actual state residency? Because those are 2 different things.

Clarification - In state for admission purposes (ISAP)
In state for tuition purposes (ISTP)

I've lost my ISAP - meaning I will be considered an OOS applicant in my IS school. Oddly, I would still pay in-state rates if admitted.
