hello everyone
i am a MBBS(equivalent to MD) graduate from india
in my final year....not satisfied with medicine career or studies
i am an intuitive kind of guy and like doing things which are logical and require application (have a knack for mathematics) 🙂
there are 2 options i am looking forward to
1. MBA program from top indian B schools (here best B schools (indian institutes of management) also takes students without any prior work ex unlike B schools in US where an average of 2-3 years of work ex is required)
after MBA the fields i would like to get into are either corporate finance(credit analyst/equity i.e, completely different from medicine) or healthcare consulting.
since i am not interested in clinical practice an MBA from indian school would be wiser option.
the only worry is that i am low on soft skills and lack the temperament of a manager. 🙁

2.informatics - i am still not sure about this area
do physicians only assume management roles in this field ?

i am a guy who is very good at doing mathematics ,enjoys logical reasoning and creative thinking
according to you which field would do justice to my capabilities?
please let me know if there is an area i am overlooking (other than MBA & informatics.) 😕
thanks everyone

If you don't like clinical medicine, have you considered subspecialties in medicine like pathology and radiology? These fields are big on analytical thinking.

If you like math and analytical thinking, have you ever considered biomedical engineering? If you don't want to do a full Ph.D. you could just do an M.S. and maybe go into industry, or if you do the full Ph.D. you'd be set up nicely for professorship as an M.D./Ph.D. Itll be relatively easy for you to get grants. And most importantly, youd be doing what you love.

Its understandable if you dont want to do a Ph.D. after completing an M.D. MBA is certainly an option. If you like research, you could go for a two-year MSCR degree. As far as informatics goes, some schools offer a two year MSPH program in public health informatics, after which you could work for industry or for government (CDC, for example). You could check into informatics companies like Epic or Cerner. Just throwing some ideas out there, hope it helps.
