So I guess my current situation is not so good. So I am very interested in doing both an MD as well as an MPH. I graduated this April and had applied to Medical School entrance for this fall. I was on the waitlist at a school, and found out about 2 weeks ago, that I did not get in. I have already applied for entrance to Medical school for 2008, but now am consdering what I should do for the upcoming year. Like I said, I am also very intersted in Healthcare policy. I was always eventually going to apply to MPH programs in the future.

The only School I know that is still taking applications for entrance for this Fall is Drexel. However, I feel with my stats (3.6GPA 32 MCATS), I am also competitve at other MPH programs, but they are not accepting applications. I was considering applying as a non-degree student at another program and trying to gain admissons for the winter term (but obviously, that involves risks of not getting accepted).

So I guess I was wondering a few questions, and would REALLY appreciate it if i could get some help.

1. Does any one know of any schools still taking applications like Drexel
2. Do you guys feel its worth taking the risks and applying in January?
3. Do schools usually have applications for Winter Term, if so which schools?

I realize this was alot, but i hope you understand that I have to make really quick decisions, because i am extremely late. THANK YOU

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) also has an MPH program that takes applications for the spring semester. It would be helpful to have ties to the state, but the program is pretty new and well-supported. They also have a combined MD/MPH program, so it may be possible for you to enroll in the MPH program and then in the MD program the following year. Good luck!

Also to let you know many it is not unusal for medical schools to require that you have your graduate degree completed come time for matriculation at that school so I think starting in the spring might be a disadvantage at some schools.--BU has an application for the spring--well at they used too but BU medical also requires that your graduate degree be done when you start med school even if you are doing your MPH at BU
