Hello everyone first I would like to thank anyone willing to take the time and help me out here:
This is my situation I am currently a pre-med student in Texas about to enter my senior year, I have decided to hopefully apply senior year because I needed to improve a couple of things. here is my list:
I am middle eastern, ESL student learn English in one year speak fluently but still have problem with reading speed and grammar.
I am a biology major and Health and Chem minor, current cGPA 3.58 sGPA 3.2 I know my GPA is low I will be trying to improve it over my last year of college, cause for that I have had to take care of my little sister all by myself since she lives with me.
As for MCAT is another challenge due to the english I am trying to get around a 30 if possible
I am over 1500 hrs of clinical research on Breast Cancer, been doing it since freshmen year ( have 2 second author publications, working on 1 first author)
I am webmaster of two health organizations at my school and a VP of a cultural organization
I have solid Letters of Rec from people I know.
I have over 150 hours of shadowing at different departments, (pulmonary, ER, Neurology)
250 volunteer hours not related to medicine
400 hrs of community service helping out refugees
100hrs of Tutoring at school
I know I am lacking Hospital volunteer hours beside hospitals any of you got any suggestions.
I play sport for an intramural basketball and soccer teams.

I would like to know of ways I can improve my applications, and any other info that you can think of that can help me out I truly appreciate all your help.
Thank you again.

3 things:
1. GPA
2. GPA
3. Study for the MCAT like your career depends on it.

Personally, I always felt as though _GPA was a crock of s***. Total GPA is all I know about, and while 3.6 does exclude you from top schools, MD is still very much open to a GPA like that. In your shoes, I would also apply DO just to cover my butt. You already know this, but keep it in your back pocket: do NOT lose ground in GPA. It is critical for you to at LEAST keep it where it is. Good luck!
