hi,
needed some advice so ..... plz excuse...
i am n FTD , from india ,i completed my degree last year, december & have a gpa of 3.2 (wes evaluation). Rather than directly trying for nbde i applied for MPH fall 2010 z i thot it might help me raise my gpa. i have been accepted in uni of oklahoma, uni of north texas & umdnj .

i seek some advice in deciding where to join bcos i plan to do DDS AFTER mph
SO if can anyone guide me that will admission to mph program in umdnj aid me further; in making my profile strong z a DDS applicant as it already has adental school under it or is iz that it dznt matter where from u did ur mph from..........

plzz any kind of advice would be of gr8 help...

plzzzzzzz can anyone reply..plzz any senior who did mph (EPIDEMIOLOGY) first & then DDS

If you are doing MPH just to increase your GPA then I would say that your GPA is perfectly good as anything above 3 is considered pretty good and therefore you dont need to spend money and time doing MPH.
If you are doing it for other reasons and your plan is to do DDS later on then I would suggest go to New Jersey coz they have the International dentist program and it might help you to be in the same uni.

Do not go for MPH just to get into DDS. Instead, you can do a lot many things related to dentistry with that time and money, which would greatly increase your chances of getting into DDS. If you are really interested in doing MPH you should be able to related it to DDS and convince your interviewer. Good luck.

thanx a lot for rplyng .........god bless u in ur all ,endeavours.......🙂🙂

well this z my part of story , i was preparing for nbde last year, but i happened to meet one of my frnd's cousin who passed his DDS 2 years back. He told me that getting a visa for the exam z tough & instead i should directly come on F1 visa z he had faced a lot of problems in his time.He told me competition z very tough, ppl have so much of experience, publications, work experience, that u'll have to wrk xtremely hard..if u do mph degree then after passing u can do job & then later join dds & pay for it yourself.I being dumb with xtreme lack of knowledge agreed & instead of preparing nbde ,studied gre & all. I had thot to give nbde this year itself so that maybe i wont get time doing mph but since past months i have been busy applying & thinking of which school to join. m sooooooooooooo muddled up, i sometimes feel that m travelling in two boats & eventually i will sink.

majority of ftds when plan to come to US are infact travelling in 6-7 boats, let alone 2. There is lot at stake..money, time and practice back home[if practising] and the fear of ending up as a failure looms large.
That is normal, get over it and start preparing for nbde part-1.
You should be able to take the exam in the first two weeks of landing in the US. It would be hard to prepare here while studying for mph etc.Not a bad idea to procure F1 first for visa purposes but you will have to part with money and time when ultimate aim is to get into dds.if you are ready for it , then go for the kill!
If you good scores in gre you can also try for graduate programs instead of dds. Mostly require gre and nbde scores.
good luck

respected mr3rdorder,

Dnt do MPH for the heck of getting a visa..do justice with the time, money and energy you spent on it.. its a fabulous degree and can take you places only if you know what you are doing with it and understand the time and commitment and do it from a reputed school of public health.

But if you want to do it for the sake of of GPA and visa..there is no sense wasting your time and money..and it will be a injustice with the degree itself..
