Hey all,

I currently work as a medical scribe in NYC in a private practice. I like the job but I only make $15/hour which is considered very low. I have a B.Sc in Biochemistry from a reputable school but have had no luck in research/lab positions at major hospitals thus far. Are there any other positions I can look into which I qualify for with my biochemistry degree that pay more (above $25/hour)?

The ADEA and the dental school supplement app fees, on top of my student loan are a huge burden to pay with my current salary. And I wanted to save up a decent amount before I matriculate dental school (hopefully!) next year.

thanks

Take a second job as a bartender or waitstaff at a restaurant?

$25/hr is $50k a year. You're going to need some sort of skill other than being a student to get a job like that.

I agree with ajj70, waiting tables is a good way to make decent money working 4 hr shifts.

Lol I'm making $17/hr as a recent grad. I would kill for $25/hr. Not really, but I would say you're already making above average for recent grads. Of course it makes a big difference if you're living in an expensive city and not out in the boondocks, but still.
