Advice on gap year, retake DAT, Masters?

Leaving your job for something else won't make a difference in their eyes. It sounds like you've gained as much experience as they had to offer you and it is time you moved onto something else. No one will fault you for it or even look negatively at you for it. Look into other relevant challenging opportunities or go visit your family/friends for a little while. You don't need to put yourself in a situation where you have bad anxiety from a job that hasn't kept up their end of the bargain.

I wouldn't retake the DAT. It's fine. Where did you apply? How is your EC? What else does your app show?

I hate to say it but maybe it is DAT. Then again I may be a reapplicant.. I too wonder what my next steps will be...
