I am trying to decide which interviews to cancel for community programs in the NJ/NYC region. I have been lucky enough to receive interviews to other programs I am more interested in the northeast region. Anyone have any information or opinions on:

Morristown
Barnabas
Monmouth
Lenox Hill
St. Lukes-Roosevelt

hey! just curious, when did you hear back from st lukes roosevelt? I'm also interested in an answer to your question because of a similar predicament

Depends on what you're looking for in a program. If you already have interviews compelling enough to consider canceling smaller community programs, you'll likely receive even more in the future. Ultimately, if you're looking to match at a "highly ranked" program that is an academic powerhouse, you should probably cancel all of those programs. But like I said, it depends on what you want and how tied you are to the NJ/NY area.

Graduated from a community NYC program (not mentioned above) in 2012 so take this with a grain of salt but here is my ranking SLR=Morristown>>Lenox Hill>>Barnabas=Monmouth (honestly do not know a lot about this last one)...I did my transitional year at Atlantic (morristown/overlook, TY no longer exists btw), Morristown is a nice hospital in a pretty, upscale community, about a 40 minute drive from NYC without traffic, also can take a train. They were quite busy when I was there, resident housing/benefits were good. SLR is located in a nice part of the city (junction of Hell's Kitchen/Upper west side) so lots of trendy restaurants, lounges/bars etc, also only a few blocks away from Lincoln Center and Central Park. I would def keep both of these interviews.

Current resident in region. I interviewed at a few of these places. I don't know much about SLR but have heard positive things about it and its in a nice part of NYC (see above post).

Motown:
Almost all FMG/DO residents (could be helpful if you're one). Hospital and town are in a nice area with alot of people commuting to NYC for work. Approach this place with caution because its heard to be a malignant atmosphere for residents. You work between 2 hospitals at Morristown and Overlook. The 2 hospitals have different private practice radiology groups who compete financially with against each other and do not get along. This can lead to awkward environment for the residents caught inbetween. Multiple residents have tranferred out of Motown in recent years to other rads programs. Boards pass rates since start of CORE have been an issue as well. R1 residents used to take a large amount of weekend call which was reading plain films for 12hrs straight, but this may have changed. Residents seem to do fellowships in the region.

Barnabas:
Similar to Motown with FMG/DO residents and location. You only work at 1 hospital which is in a nice suburban area. Resident work environment is said to be more positive than Motown. Better history of CORE pass rate compared to Motown. Residents usually do fellowships around the region as well.

Did not know that Overlook and Motown were different groups, def a conflict of interest, not quite sure how they could run a residency like that...I can see the malignancy, Motown is a busy place
