Hi all, I feel very discouraged and depressed after the decision day, and I am trying to stay positive getting my head up, but it has been difficult. Just to give you a background about my application:
1. I am working as a part-time DA at general practice (three days a week) since June 2023
2. I am involved in two research labs (biomedical lab and the other in the dental school) since March 2024
3. I am involved in community service (once a week for 3-4 hours) since November 2023
4. My stats are 24 AA, 25 TS, 24 PAT. 3.5cGPA 3.48 sGPA
5. I have a bunch of shadowing hours at multiple general practice and couple of specialty offices
6. This year (2024-25) was my second time applying, and since my first application cycle, I continued my work as a DA and started #2 and #3

Schools that I applied to:
1. BU (rejected wo interview)
2. USC (received kira but no PBL interview)
3. Marquette (no interview)
4. Rutgers (no interview)
5. Temple (no interview)
6. Alabama (received part 1 and 2, but no interview)
7. UCSF (rejected w.o interview)
8. Colorado (rejected w.o interview)
9. UDM (interviewed, waitlisted)
10. Maryland (no interview)
11. Minnesota (interviewed, waitlisted)
12. UMich (interviewed, assuming waitlisted)
13. UNC (rejected wo interview)
14. UPenn (no interview)

After the decision day and three waitlists, I cannot think of myself going into dental school this cycle, and I am already leaning towards reapplying next one. But the problem is that I have no idea where things went wrong or how to improve my application further. Mb retake the DAT as my scores may expire soon (I took it on December 2022) and aim for a higher score. I need advice on my app and how I should cope myself through this depressing/difficult time. I am planning to write a letter of continued interest to two schools that waitlisted me and a letter of intent (commitment) to Umich.

Please leave any comments/dm if you need more info about me. Thank you very much for your inputs.

please fill out a full WAMC template, and include where you applied the first cycle and results at each school...

Waitlisted doesn't mean rejected. You also previously turned down a late interview (shared) in the previous cycle.

It would be a shame if you had to retake the DAT. If you did, consider waiting until after March when the scoring system changes to a 3-digit system... do you want to take it before or after this change?

From last cycle, we gave you lots of feedback, and this cycle you got three interviews including both of your IS programs. I think we just have to wait and see.

you still have 3 months or so left this cycle
and your dat is not that old, plus it's no guarantee you can improve those awesome scores

the only issue i see is that your list this cycle was very heavy on public schools
but your stats are not bad, your gpa is near the matriculant average and your dats were excellent

sorry this happened to you, it's really difficult to say why...
