I am currently on my second try applying, and having no luck. Last year I applied to 15 schools, got no interviews. This cycle I applied to 9 schools and have gotten no interviews yet (I know, I know...it's not too late. But it's pretty late). I graduated with a 3.8 GPA and a 508 MCAT, was a student athlete, had a CNA job, tutored and was a TA in a cadaver lab all of college. I have been a full time CNA at a hospital since I graduated, so have about 2500 hours of patient care experience. Also have about 100 shadowing hours from three different types of doctors. I'm pretty discouraged with the lack of success I've had and was wondering if anybody has any advice on what I need to do to make my application stronger. Any help is appreciated!

I would apply to a greater number of schools - 20-25 if you can. It would be helpful to see your school list to see where you applied. Make sure to apply as early as you possibly can. Get a lot of feedback on your personal statement and activity essays.

Your numbers and ECs are solid. With MD schools and your MCAT, your in-state schools and low tier MD would be the best options....where all did you apply?

Also, it is not too late in the cycle to apply to DO schools and start in Fall 2016, but you would have to get on it asap. Shadow a DO if possible, but you do need a LOR from a physician (some require from a DO, but most say MD will be okay). Your numbers are very good for even the best DO schools.

Thanks for the feedback! I didn't apply to more because I honestly couldn't afford it. I paid for a TPR course last spring for the MCAT so there went all of my extra money. I applied to 5 DO schools last week once I learned their deadlines are so late, so maybe I'll get some love there. The MD schools I applied to were
Colorado (my state school)
Rochester
New York medical college
Albany
Penn state
Rush
Univ of Utah
Wake forest
