That's kind of weak for a graduate GPA, but not weak enough to prevent you from getting in somewhere.

I agree it is not the highest, but my state school's statistics for graduate GPA average was 3.28 last year.

Within your graduate program or across all graduate programs at the school? Graduate GPA is generally supposed to be higher than undergrad. You should know your undergrad GPA is also going to be considered so include that as well when considering your competitiveness for admission.

okay so I really don't want people to tell me to give up on dentistry, because that is not an option for me. this is my passion and dream career so I will not give up.

So i'm in a master's program and I was doing well the first semester, but 2 weeks before finals some very personal things happened where my depression (which I've had all my life) flared up and made it impossible for me to get out of bed, focus, I cried all the time even in class. It was really hard and it affected my final exam performance. I ended up getting an A, 3 B's and 1 C+ during that first semester. I have one more semester to go, and since it looks like I will not be getting into dental school in the fall I can take a few more graduate classes next semester so I could end up with a graduate GPA between 3.4-3.6

Is this okay for a 1 years master's GPA? Obviously I was hoping for a 3.7+ but like I said very personal things happened. Also, should I explain this situation in my personal statement for the next cycle?

Thank you!

No, dont bother to make excuses. They won't hear it. You knew you needed to well. You need to continue courses and show them it was an aberration. If you keep doing poorly you are going to run out of chances.
