  1. Pre-Podiatry
Hi, I was wondering if you could give me some advice? My goal is to start Podiatry school in Fall of 2009. However I cannot take the MCAT in april because i have not yet taken physics 2. I plan on taking physics 2 over the summer before going into my senior year and I am also planning on taking the mcat in august. Should i submit my transcript and lors before my mcat score or should i wait for my mcat score and then apply. My gpa is also slighly below average but above a 3.0 so do you think this will hurt my chances? Thanks!!

I actually took the MCAT without physics II and did fine and I am actually going to DMU this fall🙂 Usually the books tell you what you need to know from physics II. Good Luck!

I agree with yellowhawk. The physics is fairly basic on the MCAT. If you study the physics section on the MCAT practice tests and from a physics MCAT book, you should be alright.

mcat, easy....HAHAHAHA

I took the MCAT WITHOUT any physics at all. (probably not the best idea, but i really wanted to be able to apply this fall)
I studied during July and August and took it in September. Sure, my score would have been higher had I taken physics, but I found that a lot of the physical section of the MCAT was common sense based and I ended up doing fine.
I had a lot of friends that took the MCAT in April while taking Physics II and they did great. If finishing Physics II is the only thing holding you back, I think you should just go for it!

Well, I would think that you would be fine without Physics 2...but just make sure you review it all in prep books. I would take a Kaplan course or something, if you've got the time and money...
Not to scare you, but the MCAT is a pain...good luck!

yes there are some common sense physics questions on the MCAT. However, on my test I had some really bizzar physics questions which were pretty obscure. I basically had to guess on the answers for a passage. But everyone must have done crappy because I got a good PS score so

If your goal is to score as high as you possibly can on the MCATs, wait until you've completed the coursework to take the test.

I took the MCAT before I had finished organic chemistry and probably scored about 2 points lower than if I had waited. Not a disaster, but two points can make a big deal.

If your goal is to simply score high enough to get into a school, take a few practice tests and see how you feel. Trust me, if you haven't encountered the material, there will be more than a few questions that will stomp you. That said, the difference between scores pre/post physics might not affect your acceptance to the school of your choice. Or it might. Wishy washy enough for you? 🙂
