Hi, there...
I hope that i can give you some basic help with your questions..

what score do they want for nbde part 1 ,toefel and gpa ?
Different Univs set the criteria differently (it helps to go on the school's website to double check). But in general, good NBDE part 1 scores are over 85 for most univs (around 90 would get you even better chances). Toefl - aim for 100 and over (that's a pretty good score) and gpa - the higher the better, but hms, so far there is no site that I have visited with regard to gpa criteria. Actually, you should reevaluate your diploma (from your home country) through ECE (www.ece.org - that's what I did) or some schools may want/allow WES (sometimes there are differences in the results from the two agencies, so if your gpa seems low - you can try it). Anyways, anything above 3 will be okay. (as you can read there are a lot of people who managed to get in with even something like 2-ish, but as I said the higher the better). If someone knows better, please reply as well... I am not saying that I know everything, so feel free to correct me!

when does the application cycle open ?
Again the applications cycles open (and close) differnetly depending on the school. Most of the schools require CAAPID application or PASS application (I think that for the application this year (for the school year of 2011) more and more schools will join the CAAPID application system. So go online and check for the univ that you are particulary interested in.

please help me out with all this ?how to go about each and every step ?
Well, the procedure is long, so you should start with it as soon as possible. For example start with NBDE 1, and then work your way through ECE while you are waiting for the results, do the TOEFL and you are then set to do the application.

what is bench exam ?
Bench exam is a practical exam - different schools set their own requirements (procedures that they want you to do for a specific duration of time, again check with the specific school). SOme schools may require it (usually done on the day of the interview) while others do not have any bench exams. I haven't done a bench exam myself, so again - anyone with the experience will do better than me in explaining you what it is about.

is it very hard to get into ucla ?
Never applied there... But I hear it is competitive school (actually, all schools are very competitive!)

I hope that this was helpful... :luck: Good luck!
