I just recently interviewed on 12/23 at a school , and during my visit they said that I should receive a notification of my standing sometime in mid-Jan. I really want to attend, therefore, I am in the process of writing up a letter of intent.

There's a good chance that I will have to reapply next year (I have had 6 interviews and zero acceptances). Therefore, I am retaking the April MCAT and taking two more post-bacc. courses to improve my app for either next year and/or to get me off of any waitlists.

Here's my question: In my letter of intent should I include that I am retaking the April MCAT and taking two more courses? I'm worried that this might put some doubt in the adcom's minds and I'll automatically be waitlisted if not rejected. At the same time, it shows perseverance.

Any advice?

wat are u stats currently.....in ur letter of intent...dont write that ull be taking the MCAT in april...but do write that you are determined to be a MD and are willing to stick it out in the long run (which implies ull be takin the MCAT) Also tell them what you have been doing anything to imporve ur app.

ull get in somewhere....dont worry..its still early for some schools.

I agree. Don't say you're going to retake the MCAT because maybe they figure hey, let's wait and get 'em next year with the higher score. Just write your LOI, tell them all the fabulous things about yourself and cross your fingers.

Oh, and I don't think 6 interviews and no acceptances yet is the kiss of death. Don't give up so easily!! You may very well get in later or else off the waitlist this summer and not have to suffer the horrors of application again. You can do it!
