Advice regarding emails to programs

The number of applicants has gone up again this year. We are also getting numerous emails from applicants expressing interest in our programs. I always try to answer individual emails but it has become too much. I have also noticed that applicants are getting sloppy, using cut and paste (which I understand) but the name of the program is wrong when you send the email. I had someone email their interest but yet didn't apply to our program.

I cannot take an applicants interest seriously when I know that they are sending the same email out to numerous programs.
