Advice? Support? Suggestions?

Gah. I don't want to rant on and on. I have a tendency to that.

Yes, I can tell . But seriously, your only best bet is to do extremely well the trimester before college apps are due. Also, you should provide documentation confirming your depression and explain how this led to your poor performance. It might help. Other than your recent lapse in grades, I think you have a pretty good chance of getting in somewhere (maybe not your top choices). Your ACT score is already pretty good. If you manage to get above a 30, you should be golden (that's if you improve your grades, though). Your ECs also look good.

From everything I can gather, it seems that medical school admissions are rather biased against applicants who went through community college, so I really don't want to have to turn down that road. I just don't know if I'll have any other choice.

False. GPA at your perspective school is WAY more important than the actual name of the school. You might actually stand out since this is not the "traditional" route.

Still, I'd like to know if there's anything I can do to heighten my chances. As I said, I have a medical school goal, and I'm not content settling for a community college education. I've screwed up a lot in the past, but I'd like to turn things around this last year and finally get the 4.0 that everybody has been waiting for. Even if it is just for my last year.

I wouldn't be so quick to rule out this option. You can always switch to a four year college/university after a year or two. You may save a lot of cash by doing so since CC is much cheaper. Also, remember: when you go to college, you are starting with a clean slate. Medical school will never see your high school grades.

Hope this helped!!! Good luck:luck:

I might send in an application to the University of Chicago, just because they've bombarded me with so much mail over the summer. I don't expect to get accepted, but I suppose having at least one "long shot" application isn't the worst thing in the world.

Hey, you never know. 🙄:xf:
