Advice to improve your chance of getting off waitlist

Just received a waitlist notice from a Post-Bacc program I applied to.

Any general advice on how one can improve their chances of getting off the waitlist? My significant other suggested I ask to sit in on some classes to show commitment to the school, but not sure how that'd work out. Any other general ballpark ideas? Email them a promise to attend if taken off?

It's a Los Angeles based university... keeping the name quiet just in case they look at these forums. Paranoid I know, but I think most schools are the same in terms of handling their waitlists and what you have the power to do.

Yes I attended an info session which they knew about, and an in-person interview. I think I had a relatively strong application with some deficiencies, such as no math or any science (they dont want you to have science anyway). Got C's in some humanities classes early in college which didn't help the GPA (>3.3). Currently volunteering in a hospital. Might not have 100% nailed some of the interview questions, but who knows. Only other thing I can think of is they do rolling admissions and it's the tail end, so they may have already admitted most of the class.

I can't imagine this would ever work out well for you.

Do you have any other plans in case you don't get in? Acceptances to other programs? You could sort of bluff by writing and saying your deadline to accept your offer for X prestigious program or Y competitor postbac is coming up, but you really want to go to this school.

This would not look good if you are outright lying and end up applying to the very same school next year.

Lol to the working out well part. I suppose with Post-Baccs which are an untraditional route it couldn't hurt to show extended interest in the school. I recently sent in an application for another school, but I'm a bit limited as I firmly need to stay in LA to do this type of program.

If I don't get admittance to this other program, does anyone have any insight on how to do a post-bacc in LA? I know there's the UCLA extension, but it's a bit unclear if one can take every single required med school pre-req classes through them.

I don't know anything about LA, sorry. Obviously I don't know anything about you either. But consider that you are highly unlikely to stay in LA for medical school, which could be as soon as one year after you start in a postbac program. So given the magnitude of the career change you're making and the limited options in LA, why not expand your options for postbac? You've got about 10 years of medical training ahead of you...what's one more?
