I got accepted to one Pharmacy school three days ago. The acceptance seems conditional; that is, I need to complete some courses before school starts. Unfortunately, almost all summer session I courses already started and I will not be able to some of those courses. Is there any chance for me being admitting to the school while missing one or two of the course?

Should I send my deposit? Should I fill out all the necessary document, such as housing, background check, immunization, etc..

What should I do? I need advice. Please help!

Thank you.

If you have not completed all the prerequisites prior to matriculation, you will not be allowed to start classes.

This.

You can call the school and see if they will make an exception somehow, but it is doubtful. You should have known from the start that had you not completed the prereqs, you will ultimately be denied acceptance, even when you are offered "acceptance."

You should take all the classes you need, the ones you cant sign up for at your local community college, take online from other community colleges throughout the usa.

isn't there summer session II?

So you decided to go to Lipcombs over South? I decided to go to Mercer over South. Kinda off topic but I remember we were talkiing about the decision.

take classes at some other college even though i guess registration might be a problem.

First thing I'd do is call the school you were accepted to and explain the situation.

Yes, you really should have realized there were prereqs you should have enrolled in for summer, but on the other hand, how did you know you were going to be accepted at the very tail end of May? (If you can make this sound good, that's the way I'd present it over the phone... If it just comes out sounding ignorant / unprepared, scrap it.)

Tell them that you are very excited for the opportunity to attend their school, but you had intended upon taking the final prereqs you needed in Fall semester and now won't have that opportunity. Ask them if you can take the classes online to fulfill the requirements due to late notice. Emphasize that you are honored that they chose you - don't linger on the late notice thing. 😀

What are these prereqs you need? If they're "major" classes, such as Chemistry, Biology, etc., I would be prepared for the school to require you to finish before entering. If it's just english or economics - something more "gen ed" - and you really can't find a class for Summer II (which starts in July here in AZ) - ask them if you can take it concurrently with Fall semester.

If they won't work with you, ask them if you can delay your acceptance for the following year.

Fight for it! Don't take no for an answer!

(P.S. - if you're looking for online classes, Rio Salado community college has a good number of them, starting every couple weeks... www.riosalado.edu. Even if it says you will have to come to the testing center, you could contact the instructor and explain that you're out of state and see what kind of arrangements you can make.)

I did! Incredibly hard decision though. I love the beach and the town of Sav., Ga but I needed summers off to chill so that was the deal-breaker. Anyways, I found out that Nashville is a pretty sweet town and the faculty at Lipscomb is off the chain so it's going to be good.

Good luck to you at Mercer, hopefully we'll both be PharmD's in t-4 years.
