Yes you can get it removed from you account what you need to do is this ...

1) Get proof that the bill was paid to the ambulance

2) send this to the collection agency AND the ambulance company - did the ambulance company acknowledge pmt with you? or was that just the health insurance that said they paid? You have to make sure the ambulance company rec'd payment from them and match the dates with when payment was sent from health insurance

3) Contact all 3 major credit reporting agencies and report that there was something incorrectly reported. They have 30 days to research and contact the ambulance company/collection to make sure paid.

This is where it is hairy ... it depends on when payment was made vs. when collection was filed. If payment was made BEFORE collection was file and you have proof, you can fight to get it removed frmo your report ...

Conversely - it will just show that collection was paid and will be a "ding" in your credit.

How is this possible? I am thinking that the reason to have health insurance is to be protected from all this, but apparently it is not the case
health insurance has NOTHING to do with collections just so you know ... health insur doesn't protect you from much. I would also try to find out from ambulance company "their" records of when they filed claims etc.

Is this making any sense? If things were done in a timely manner and your health insurance was to blame you need to get proof, if it was the ambulance company you need to get proof. Unfortunately, its up to YOU to prove it b/c noone else cares. You can hire a lawyer to coordinate this but that could be pricey, but if you or your parents have the money for it ... go for it.

Best of luck :luck:
