I am sure this questions have been asked before, so i apologize, but i would like some advice on whether or not i should apply this cycle. It's relatively late in the season, and some schools, like pcom, no longer accept applicantions, and prehaps many of the spots at other schools have already been filled. So, my question is: should i apply this season, with a 3.96gpa and 28mcat, or should i wait until next year, with perhaps a higher MCAT and much earlier?

Pretty sure AACOMAS turn in date has gone by. If you have already turned that in, you could take a chance at a couple schools and hope for an interview.
Thing is they look at applications on a first come first serve basis, so its hard to say when they'll look at yours. More people are applying every year, so applying early is becoming that much more important. With your GPA, i think that MCAT score is fine and should get you into competitive Osteopathic schools next year.

u have really good stats....the gpa is amazing and the mcat is above avg so i would apply at this point in the cycle and give it ur best shot bc i feel like ud be a solid candidate in any med school's eyes.......worse comes to worse u lose some money but ont he plus side u coudl save urself a lot of hassle and an entire year if u do get in now....thats just my opinion tho

Well, it is very late to start now. If you have not started your AACOMAS app yet, you would need to do so asap since their processing takes some time. If you have the money to spare, I would say with your stats you could try, but keep in mind that your chances are still going to be slim. I finished my AACOMAS in Aug, and it wasn't sent until Oct, so you really need to check the deadlines, and have everything lined up like transcripts and LORs so you can turn the secondaries around in a day or two, since secondary deadlines are coming up also.

Man, I just looked and there are only a few schools that are still accepting primary apps. Might be better just to wait, sorry!

maybe... just maybe.... if you have a local school in your area, you can directly go and talk to them see if they have a spot for you... as far as AACMAS goes, I am not sure if you can still use it at this time...

I would wait... if you fill out the application and still don't get in this year because of how late you are then you will have improve even more for next year and tell the schools "How you improved from the last time you applied" ..

I would suggest waiting at this point as well. If you haven't already done so take the time before the next application cycle to shadow and get a LOR from a DO.

why people freak out about having to possibly take a year off vs. being accepted to a not less than stellar school because of time tables is beyond me. You'll have a very competetive chance at all the DO schools if you apply on time next cycle.

If you are interested in getting in schools with April 1 and April 15 deadlines,
you should submit your applications right now. Requst transcripts to be sent
by express mail. MCAT score can be done in one day. As long as MCAT and
Trascripts sent in by deadline to AAMCAS, it is okay. Just make sure spots
still open at those schools.
GO.GO.GO.
