I'm a recent grad, and a year behind on my med school app process. I have a 3.45 overall and a 3.25 science gpa, but my mcat is horrible due to the flu! (23) i studied so hard i decided to take it anyway... should i retake it in august or let it ride? i have 4+ years of clinical experience as a tech in an urban ER, many voluteer experiences, and solid recs from many MD's and DO's. any advice would be helpful.

If you have the time to study, I would say give it a shot. If not, I wouldn't sweat it. As long as you have some strong extracurriculars that show your passion and dedication for medicine, everything should work out nicely. Good luck!

I would advise you to only retake the mcat if you can study really hard for it and improve your score. Otherwise, if you are applying to Osteopathic schools, you should be fine.

thanks everyone, i'll try my best to study with the month and a half i have left, but i won't take it if i'm not ready.

Everything being stated, I would still submit my application early rather than waiting. Getting your application in early could easily be the difference b/w getting in vs a waitlist.

I second this.
