Hello,

I was hoping I could receive some advice. I transferred into University of California, Irvine from a community college and currently am a 4th year undergraduate. I transferred with a 3.7 GPA and did well in all my BCPM classes while at a cc. However, once I transferred I received a couple C-'s in organic chemistry and biology due to my own reasons and problems, but no excuses. I have retaken two of the courses already. I am on an upward trend since Summer 2012. My Public Health Science major does not require physics, so I was planning to graduate with a minor in Psychology and head back to cc to take physics, physiology (w/ lab), and anatomy (w/ lab). However, I've been having thoughts of staying a 5th year and turning my minor in psychology into a double major and completing my physics, physiology, and anatomy, while also trying to show optometry schools I can handle the workload of a university. I have no doubt I can do well again in a cc, but I'm not sure schools want to see me do well at a cc, then not so well at a university (despite the upward trend), and well at a cc again. It's obviously going to cost a lot, but it would be an investment in my future. I understand a lot of it is riding on my OAT score as well, but I wanted to gather some thoughts on which path I should take.

Any advice would be great! Thanks!

Personally, I think you should at least take physics at a university level, considering it's role in optometry. A&P is one of those courses that is so general that you may want to take at a CC to guarantee an A.
But then again, if you really want to prove that you can handle the work load, you already know which path to take. 😉
