I'm an incoming MS1 (have been accepted at an allopathic medical school) and was wondering if any of the medical students, residents and attendings here can give me some pointers? I will be honest. I'm just an average student in term of academic ability but I am a hard worker. I know you have to be the best of the bests to match in plastic so I understand I have a tough road ahead of me. My plan is to buckle down, learn the material in pre-clinical years well and study hard for Step 1. I am also thinking about going to the plastic department in my first year to introduce myself, get some shadowing and potentially get involved in some research? Do you think this is wise to do or will it be viewed negatively as too "gunner-ish"? Thank you in advance for your time.
