My first interview is in three weeks and I was wondering if I should bring supplemental information... by supplemental information I mean stuff lol.

I work in a dental lab prepping for crowns so I thought I would bring a small poured impression and trim it for the interview. Is that overkill?

I also am minoring in ceramics so I thought I could bring a couple pictures of my detailed work, one piece being a large tooth. Is that overkill?

I don't want to take the interview off topic by bringing these things or come off as a suck up but I want to stand out and be as prepared as possible. Advise? Any advise from anyone who has been to interviews?

If the interviewer asks about your experience at the dental lab and your minors in ceramics, I would certainly show them what you have brought. Otherwise, don't

I don't see that there would be much harm in bringing a few pictures in a folder for a little show and tell, just don't plan to take anything out unless it seems appropriate. If your interviewer provides an opening, offer to show what you have and see if he/she is interested. If they don't, then just leave them in the folder, you don't want to derail the interview by trying to inject something that they are not interested in. Whoever interviews you will have an agenda and some prepped questions for you, it's their game.

I was thinking the same....

"What to bring to an interview"

Like you I have dental lab experience.... I would not bring in models, due to many reasons: one being a possible biological hazards.

But definitely bring in a small portfolio of the work you did and stood out to you...

How can you get off topic if your in the family of dentistry, dental labs are like the little siblings of dentists....

Adcoms might end up being so impressed with your trimming skills that they will offer you a position in the in-house lab. On the other hand, they could also think that you ended up in the wrong room and direct you to the Dental Technology section down the hall.
