i know i am late but i am fillin out my application rite now and its asking me for whether information should be released to school-designated advisor..... now i am not applying through my premed committee, so i should check no?.. my concern is whether med schools see i checked no and that may raise red flags.

and my other question is that once i submit my application to amcas and they make changes and/or comments, can i view them and see exactly what a medical school admissions officer looks at?

and finally can amcas comment on how many times u called amcas to a med school, or tell a med school that an applicant is annoying? lol

Then just check yes.

Yes. Once you are verified you can see the changes by logging in your application. Try to have as few corrections as possible, especially with grade entry.

No. Why would you even introduce yourself when you call? Just call and state that you are an applicant with a question. Don't tell them who you are. Either way, I am sure AMCAS won't convey this to med schools.

so i shouldnt be worried about amcas sayin bad things about me to med school?

i called, and a rep asked me for aamc id... then i asked my ques... i asked that my from my college transcript the major is written as undeclared, but i am working on a construction civil engineering technology as my major.. i just havent declared it yet...

so my ques was since amcas does not have construction civil engineering tech should i click on other and type that in, or should i just select engineering technology.... and this is where it gets scary... the rep told me that it is up to me to decide and started laughing...

and then i asked does amcas verify the major, and the rep said no

now when i said after that thank you there was silence and i guess the rep just hung up after a min

but it seemed like the rep thought i was an idiot/rude... should i be concerned?

You've got to understand that AMCAS is slammed right now. The workers are probably all extra stressed out. They've not going to sabotage your application. Stop worrying for no reason.

I checked no on all advisor releases. I'm sleeping well at night.

It seems like you do a good job at doing that! 😉

Seriously though, just relax.

Why just not go to the committee? the fact that u dont have one will raise a red flag regardless so why not get one?

It's probably too late for him to go through the Committee at this point, they're probably swamped and if it's anything like my school and there are forms to fill out and whatnot, that will take forever.

I have a related question: What can advisors see when you release information via AMCAS? Anything other than MCAT scores and the schools you're applying to? Can they see your whole app, including your statement and all that?
